Here's what to expect during your professional audiology assessment

Everyone is unique and so is your hearing test result and hearing aid requirement. All of our equipment is portable so we can come to you and complete an assessment in the comfort of your own home. We first start with taking a thorough history, followed by a hearing test and then a speech test, if required. Once we have all of the information we discuss the details with you.

History Taking

This is the most important stage of your hearing assessment as it provides us with the building blocks to form a picture of your ear health, lifestyle and expectations. It also indicates the type of hearing loss you may have and highlights any conditions that require further assessment or treatment such as tinnitus (link to tinnitus page) or balance problems

History Taking

An Audiologist will run through some crucial questions to build a picture of your ear health. In some cases, you may need to be referred back to your GP or ENT before you can be seen by Pinnaclear. Audiologists with NHS experience have the added advantage over dispensers as they have experience of working closely with ENT in hospitals.

Hearing Test

A fully trained senior audiologist will then examine your ears using an otoscope or a videoscope. If you have ear wax, it can be cleaned by microsuction (link). If your ears are clear we can proceed with a hearing test using up-to-date testing equipment. The hearing test involves wearing some headphones and a bone conductor and listening to some sounds. The audiologist will record when you are able to hear the sound and record these on an audiogram.

Hearing Test

The Audiologist will then examine your ears using an otoscope, which is a magnifier with a light and proceed with testing if your ears are clear. Pinnaclear uses up to date equipment to make your testing streamline. The hearing test involves wearing some headphones and listening to some sounds. All you do is click a button when you can hear the sound.

Discussion

Once all of the information has been gathered, the results and any options will be discussed with you so that you can make the most informed choice when it comes to your care and an optimum hearing aid (link to hearing aid styles) that is unique to you.

Discussion

The important bit. So that you understand the outcome, a detailed report will be provided so that you can make the right decision when it comes to proceeding with a hearing aid that's right for you.
